What is an Allergy?

When the human body responds to its external environment or food in an abnormal way, this condition is known as an allergy. This condition can occur in children and adults alike, and can involve the gastro-intestinal organs, the lungs, the throat, or the sinuses, among others – the most common forms of allergy usually affect the skin, nose and eyes. While some allergies are not life-threatening or even particularly annoying, some can be highly serious, preventing you from living a normal life. To diagnose your allergy, doctors use several testing procedures like the blood test or the skin test.
